Feeling overwhelmed when it comes to deciding on your must haves for a baby registry? If your a first time parent this can be a confusing task. Everyone will have lots of suggestions, and in my case found that most of it was unnecessary. Here is a list of some of my favorite items that I was glad to have!
I have had my same trusty Proven Thermometer for almost 8 years now with never having an issue or having to replace it. Fevers in babies can be such a scary thing even for seasoned parents. Having a good and lasting thermometer is a must! There are so many digital thermometers on the market, but this is has been a perfect choice for me!
Baby monitors are something that can get pricey. After our first expensive one broke and wan’t covered under warranty anymore, we went cheaper. I also preferred to have a separate screen so I didn’t have to use my phone. The HelloBaby monitor has a pan-tilt-zoom feature and a 3.2″ LCD screen. This way I could use my phone while baby was sleeping without having to turn the view off.
I found no need to get super fancy with a sound machine. There are some sound machines that go up to $70 or more! Something simple, small and portable is perfect. The Vtech Baby Sleep Soother is just that. It has melodies and soft ambient sounds. A soft light for the dark that can be dimmed or brightened. The stretchable hook makes it portable and easy to connect anywhere. And the cost is just right around $20.
Make your own fresh baby food with nutritious ingredients and reusable containers. The HEYVALUE 13-in-1 Baby Food Processor is easy to use and easy to clean. Puree the food or as they grow start to leave chunks. Comes with everything you need but you may want to order more containers.
Want to make life easy? Add sleeper gowns to your baby registry! They make changing diapers so much easier! No messing with getting legs back in or having to put buttons together in the middle of the night. And they come with mitten cuffs to protect from scratches. It’s a win win all around!
While baby outfits are so adorable, you will go through a lot of them. After awhile, when we got through the first few months and all the cute outfits, we bought a few big packs of plain onesies for our day to day shuffle around the house.
Baby Bouncers are another item that can get really expensive but I found there was no need for the $200 bouncers. The Smart Steps by Baby Trend Stem EZ Bouncer was just right. Simple, effective and not over the top.
You will be up in the night so make sure you have plenty of night lights around. The Emotionlite Plug in Night Light comes in a pack of 4 and 6 with warm white for a soft glow.
A mobile is something that got a lot of use and due to being electronic with movement and music, this was an item I’d rather pay more for good quality product. Some mobiles will break within 2 months or fall apart. I also recommend one that has a timer on it and a volume control. The Lambs & Ivy Jungle Safari Musical Baby Crib Mobile has those features. Not only do mobiles help your little fall fast asleep but it helps promote brain development with visual and auditory stimulation.
Another item I really didn’t think about but was definitely needed! Enovoe car Window Shades for your baby comes in a pack of 4 and you will need all of them. They got pretty beat up in my vehicle once my son could get his hands on them! But until then they did their job!
This is another item that you want a good, long lasting and durable brand. You will use this a lot!!! Even when your baby is older, the runny noses and coughs are back year after year. There are so many kinds and they range from $20 to $80. I have had the Vicks Mini Filter-Free Cool Mist Humidifier for many many years. I love this due to the ability to add Vicks VapoPads for the extra stuffy nights. My only gripe is having to clean it. There are some tight spots that I have to get the smallest bristle brush in it to clean.
Along with that Cool Mist Humidifier, a nasal aspirator was top on my list for a baby registry. The Innovo Twister Bulb is clear which I like to see that it’s actually working and it twists apart for easy cleaning to use again and again! It also has a soft silicone tip for those sensitive noses.
Tummy time activity mats are the best for your busy baby! There are so many to choose from. Finding one with something for the to kick is a bonus. The Baby Einstein 4-in-1 Kickin’ Tunes Music and Language Play Gym and Piano Tummy Time Activity Mat has a piano to kick and comes off to be carried around as your child grows!
Most of the time I never made it to the nursery changing table. I kept a simple changing pad in each room we hung out in and changed the baby right on the floor. This was an item there was no need to get fancy on. The Regalo Baby Basics Infant Changing Pad is priced just right at $19.
Of course the items that you will need the most and will go through a lot of! Diapers, lots of diapers, burp rags, baby wipes, baby shampoo, and diaper rash cream.
This is not a complete list for your baby registry but some of the top items to include. It’s easy to add so much unnecessary things to your list, keep it simple and convenient for your family and friends! Have a physical location to go shopping at, as well as an online option.
